Chris Ofili
Painter
Christopher Ofili, CBE is a British Turner Prize-winning painter who is best known for his paintings incorporating elephant dung. He was one of the Young British Artists. Since 2005, Ofili has been living and working in Trinidad and Tobago, where he currently resides in Port of Spain. He also lives and works in London and Brooklyn. The reason i am inspired by this artist is because he justifies the rights and empowerments of the African black community within society. I am very passionate about my identity being a black British woman, as though himself has his pride in African culture , heritage and traditions as well as the advantages and disadvantages of being a person with colour and the difficulties that one would face being a considered as the unorm to the standards and normalities to witch upholds the white privileges. But with his work he justifies a firm of propaganda to inform, entertain and enlighten those of Black British culture and subculture. To this is regard of having an in terest to surrealism, fiction and the ways that human flesh is those of a creature. I admire the way he uses colour, light, pattern, texture to beautify his creations of the African kings and queens.
