The work that I aspire to produce is based on the human race. The human race of mixed breed and skin abnormalities. The physical aspects of the human flesh and how the characteristics are weird to the norm. The changes of the human body when the genetics of different breeds combine to form a new mixture. I have gained this idea through my production of work that focuses on the human nose in my body project. The characteristics would define what ethnic minority a person may be, due to the shape of the nose, color of skin, texture of hair. The human body consists of differences to the normality from the disorders that would occur physically. I would insist of creating a fictional/mythical human being that is of a mixed breed of different species. This would be in reference to a character design of the creation of an avatar. In my project the human characteristics are manipulated, normalized to create a different form. That would occur from the mixture of two dominant breeds into a conclusion of one, the reverse human kind of what makes a person of a certain race. To apply the changes, the physical attributes of person. As well as creating a new creature, in inspiration to obtaining key features from animals, plants and racial elements, in order to structure a new living being.
I am interested in the human body and have addressed various issues involving race, gender and feminism. In previous projects, I have looked at physical differences in facial features, and addressed more social and political issues in a mixed race society. I have produced these concepts as paintings and drawings, but I have also enjoyed printmaking and 3D. I would like to use a combination of these techniques and maybe combine with an animation/video outcome for this project.
The project concept is based on a mixed creature like breed, that is invented from the aspects of human and animal characteristics. I intend on producing a painting or 2d/live short film witch shows how the aspects of the humanoid is displayed visually in relation to having its own weird reflections to the abnormalities witch ally to physical disorders such as vitiligo or genetics. The research obtained demonstrates the human race and how it has been structured to define a specific characteristic. This is during the ages when the humans would transfer from different lands from Africa, to which would include the changes of features. The abnormalities in skin texture such as fur, a pattern of shapes, a different form of hair texture/length. The way one can be manipulated into something that would be deriving to the eyes of the audience. The key features of animals and what considers to make it into a form of breed. To understand why there are animals of different breeds such as donkey and horse that would create a new breed known as a Hinny. A domestic equine hybrid that is the offspring of a male’s horse and a female donkey. In terms of using human beings, the combination of having a multiple mixture of character. For instance, a half human and half dog, and the conclusion to the genetics combing as one would be in difference to those who are only human. In terms of a digital production using photography, I would entail on taking photographs of people who are of different races and genders, and manipulate the certain features of the induvial/s using Photoshop and makeup prosthetics. For instance, I would have a African female, and with the features she displays, I would make certain parts of the skin a bright pink circular color, make the hair very long straight and blonde, with bright blue eyes and a very thin looking nose. In terms of the certain prosthetics used I would produce a silicone of body parts that I would apply on the face and genitals. I have also done research on how animals have cross-breeds. How the cross-breeds combine and create a new animal species as I have mentioned with the donkey and the horse. In addition, the animals having cross-breeds, I would insist on creating a humanoid-cross breed with multiple characteristics/features that is outside the ordinary. This would also demonstrate how every living being in this existence of life is the same, as they are all created by God.
Taking the initial concept of mixed race relationships, I am interested in exploring genetics and physical racial characteristics, and the differences within the human form. I will look at indigenous people from all parts of the world particularly from remote areas which have had little contact with wider communities such as the Solomon Island Melanesians with black skin and blond afros, the Dinka tribe of Sudan with their tall thin physiques and the tiny Pygmy tribe. I will explore how their looks and characteristics have evolved with globalization and increasing mixed race families. My project will focus on the physical characteristic and may explore a more fantasy imagined future, taking into account hair, fur, skin texture and pattern. I may combine some animal characteristics of fur, feather and scales too, taking into account ancient mythological hybrid human animals such as minotaurs, centaurs, vampires, werewolves, mermaids and selkies. Some of these myths were inspired by unusual physical abnormalities and conditions such as vitiligo uneven skin pigmentation which gives rise to dramatic skin colour differences.
I will investigate genetic engineering and may explore a futuristic outcome which may be a 2D video or animation, or I could use photoshop manipulation to create hybrid images for a fictional brochure for a company which enables genetic engineering to create designer babies or perhaps an avatar character design for a game
